Descriptions

Short

A book nook for your desktop. Tiny, lit 3D worlds that live at the edge of your screen and follow your real hours. Nothing to win, nothing to grind. Just somewhere lovely to glance at while you work or study.

About 50 words

Screen Nook is a book nook for your desktop. Tiny, lit 3D worlds live at the edge of your screen and keep your real hours, starting with a lantern-lit Japanese street where rain turns the stone dark and glossy. Nothing to win or manage, just somewhere lovely to glance at while you work.

About 150 words

Screen Nook is a book nook for your desktop: tiny, lit 3D worlds that live in a strip at the edge of your screen while you work or study. Dock it to the left or right and your windows make room for it.

The first world is a lantern-lit Japanese street, and it keeps your hours. Morning sun catches the rooftops, the shops light up as evening comes in, and the lanterns burn long after dark. Weather drifts in on its own, and when the rain comes every lantern shows up twice in the wet stone. Petals fall through the lamplight and a cat keeps an eye on the street. Bring your cursor close and the scene shifts in depth.

There are no goals and nothing to unlock. It just makes that corner of your screen a nicer place to be. More worlds are on the way, with a neon cyberpunk street next.

Features

  • Docks to the left or right edge of your screen, and your other windows, even maximised ones, fill the space beside it.
  • The light follows your own clock through five times of day, from morning to late night.
  • Weather drifts in on its own, from clear skies through cloud to heavy rain, and the wet street mirrors the lanterns.
  • Petals fall, moths find the lanterns, a cat watches the street and a neighbour steps out after dark.
  • Bring your cursor close and the street shifts in depth.
  • Nothing to win, manage or keep alive.
